• Solatube Brighten Up Series

After we designed our original residential daylighting system, we realized it had great potential for commercial applications like corridors, storage rooms and small offices. The Solatube Brighten Up Series is a line of tubular daylighting devices that features Raybender Technology, a patented optical innovation built into our rooftop domes. With it, our systems effectively capture the sun’s rays at the roof level, then transfer them indoors through our highly reflective Spectralight Infinity Tubing. They can be used individually to illuminate small areas or in multiple configurations to attain predictable lighting results for larger spaces. They also can be used to create specific architectural effects like wall washes and soffit lighting. The Brighten Up Series is a brilliant solution for medium spaces with ceiling heights up to 10 ft.

Architectural and environmental integration

We believe everyone has a right to experience the benefits of natural daylight. But capturing and transmitting the sun’s rays indoors does have its difficulties. Shifting light patterns, solar heat gain, and glare are typical commercial daylighting concerns that can have a negative impact on building occupants. Fortunately, the use of progressive engineering and advanced technologies in our Solatube Daylighting Systems enables them to overcome these challenges. As a result, they provide highly predictable light output, design flexibility, and peace of mind while allowing you to meet your architectural and environmental objectives. Read below to learn more.

Optical controllability

The Brighten Up Series selectively redirects, reflects and delivers the visible spectrum of daylight to interior spaces. At the same time, it filters out infrared wavelengths to reduce daytime cooling loads, minimizing costs associated with air conditioning units. It also prevents ultraviolet light from entering the building, which can damage interiors and fade furniture and fabrics. Using selective optics, our commercial daylighting systems can even maximize capture of low-angle rays of light from the sky’s horizon and reject overpowering, high-angle rays of light from the noontime, summer sun for optimal and controlled annual daylighting performance. The result is a robust system that optimizes daylight delivery for superior comfort and light control.

Superior transmissibility

Along with delivering the highest quality daylight possible, Solatube Daylighting Systems produce minimal color / spectral shift of light. Known as high Color Temperature Maintenance (CTM), this characteristic ensures consistent color temperature throughput and stable color rendition across the visible light spectrum over the course of the year. Our systems also boast unrivaled Light Transfer Efficiency (LTE). This means they deliver maximum light throughput for greater output and enhanced multi-story daylight delivery. In short, Solatube Daylighting Systems are the pinnacle of light output, color consistency and quality of light delivery.

Extraordinary adaptability

A building’s use can change over its lifetime. That’s why Solatube Daylighting Systems are designed for adaptability. When a building is reconfigured or modified, our tubular daylighting devices can change along with it. Fixtures can be swapped out and new Effect Lenses or lighting controls can be added or removed to customize a space. Or, if a remodel demands it, the tubing can be easily rerouted to a new location. With such extraordinary adaptability, Solatube Daylighting Systems can be adjusted to conform to your building needs now as well as those in the future.

Performance predictability

When using sunlight for
commercial lighting design
applications, you want your
daylighting solution to
perform as planned.
Solatube tubular daylighting
devices feature patented optical
technologies that deliver extremely consistent daylighting, hour by hour and season by season. A Solatube Design Specialist can even provide you with IES Photometry and tools to assist you in your design process. Whatever your building type or need, we have the tools that let you customize lighting to achieve your aesthetic goals.

Affordable sustainability

Solatube products are engineered to reduce environmental impact while providing energy-efficient lighting that nurtures building occupants. By utilizing sustainable natural daylight,
our systems eliminate the need for electric lights
during the day as well as the utility needed to
generate that power. This minimizes a
building’s carbon footprint by reducing
environmental CO2 emissions.

From a financial perspective, Solatube
Daylighting Systems make good sense
because they are cost-effective and reduce
maintenance costs. In fact, they often have
lower installation costs than other fenestration
products. The end result is high-performance,
eco-friendly commercial lighting at a price that fits
your budget.

Effortless attainability

Engineered reliability

We engineer our tubular daylighting devices for reliability with leakproof flashings, self-cleaning domes and UV / IR screening. The result is a commercial daylighting solution that withstands inclement weather, requires little to no maintenance, and delivers bright, beautiful daylight to occupants for years to come, giving you ultimate peace of mind.

Occupant productivity

When sunlight is allowed to enter a building, the people occupying it—whether they are working, studying, shopping or living—tend to be happier, healthier and more productive. We believe everyone deserves to experience the benefits that bright, beautiful natural lighting has to offer. The sustainable lighting design of our commercial daylighting products enhances occupants’ functionality so they can work and live at the highest levels.

Ventilation Add-on Kit

The Brighten Up Series can easily transform a dark interior into a bright and beautiful space. But what about the issue of trapped humidity in restrooms, gym locker rooms or hotel laundry rooms? Solatube can handle that too. A Ventilation Add-On Kit combines daylighting and ventilation into one attractive fixture, leaving these spaces humidity-free. The streamlined design also leaves the ceiling looking orderly and uncluttered. For even more functionality, consider adding a Light Add-On Kit for a dynamic 3-in-1 unit. It’s the ideal solution for creating spaces with bright light but low humidity. Ducting and roof vent cap sold separately.

• 160 DS / DSe

The optional Light Add-On Kit easily attaches to the inside of the system’s tubing to provide incandescent or compact fluorescent lighting for nighttime use. The Solatube Daylighting System can even be placed where an existing fixture is to avoid unnecessary ceiling clutter. Commonly used in corridors and restrooms, the Light Add-On Kit is a smart solution for any space that gets used after dark.

Compact Fluorescent Light Add-On Kit

This kit works with compact flourescent bulbs only and complies with California Title 24 requirements. For the 160 DS, the light fixture houses one 26-watt compact flourescent bulb. For the 290 DS, up to two fixtures may be installed.

Universal Light Add-On Kit

This kit works with either compact fluorescent or incandescent bulbs. For the 160 DS, the light fixture holds one 23-watt maximum compact fluorescent bulb or a 100-watt maximum medium base incandescent bulb. The 290 DS light fixture holds two bulbs.
